Aregawi Girmay's Path from Traditional to Sustainable Agriculture

Aregawi Girmay and his wife, Tsehaynesh Abadi, from Gedeba Tabia, Adwa Weredas, transformed their farming practices with the help of the “Folfolo” watershed project by REST/DF-CARDІІ.

Through the project, Aregawi embraced Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices, receiving improved maize seed and training. Implementing innovative techniques, he expects to harvest over 10 quintals of maize.

Previously reliant on micro gardening with an open pond, the couple faced challenges. Now, with a newly constructed pond, they have sustainable water access for microirrigation.

“We earned income during construction and now have sustainable water,” they say. “We’re grateful for this gift and committed to the project’s objectives.”

Join us in celebrating Aregawi and Tsehaynesh’s success as we promote sustainable agriculture and community development.
